As readers and information consumers it is critical that we are able to get to the essence of text and determine the most important ideas the author is conveying. Agreeing with those ideas is another thing!

In this mini- lesson, I want students to understand that taking a critical stance as a reader is an important 21st Century skill, especially in a time where anyone can say anything about any topic.
