About this time last year, even with the help of a fantastic blog coach, I was in a blog-writing valley mentally. It wasn't so much a writing block, but a curiosity as to who was reading my blog, if I was making a difference.
When the Edublog Award Nominations launched, I was so excited and reignited when I found out I had been nominated as Best New Blog. That nomination propelled me to a mental place i hadn't seen as a blog author. It was like getting my first comment on the site. To think, one of my peers took the time to nominate me as the best at something — in all of the edublogosphere. Wow!
And then, the truly unexpected honor of being voted as the Best New Blog of 2008! Overjoyed. Humbled. Ecstatic!
This process isn't about traffic, or linkbait, or feed subscribers…it's about peers recognizing peers in this, our personal and professional learning network (PLN).
This year, I've been honored to be nominated in three places (actually four, but one can't win Best New Blog two years in a row, can they?:-))

Voting ends Wednesday Midnight Eastern. Congratulations to all those nominated and to those who nominated others. Thanks for making us all smarter with your sharing.
Update: My friend Eduardo makes me smarter (thank you:-))! Via email and comments, he asked why I didn't take a few moments to publicly thank those who nominated me for the above. So right, he is! I should've taken the time to do so, and while tardy, do such now:
My heartfelt thanks go out to Doug Peterson, Angela Powell Watson, Jamin Lietz, and Mike Sansone
