Chalk Talk 6/4/10

4th Jun 2010 Posted in: CHALK TALK

ChalktalkChalk Talk Friday represents conversations and brilliance I've discovered traversing my way through the Blogosphere.  From professional to personal development, these are the posts and links have in some way touched my head or my heart.

  • TexttoSpeech2 is a free online text to speech converter. It is super easy to use- just enter your text, select one of the voices and download the resulting mp3 file to your computer. (The service is free and you are allowed to use the speech files for any purpose, including commercial uses.)
  • The Dermenator- is a new tool (still in beta) that allows you to create and share panoramic photos using a normal camera and no professional equipment. There are some bugs, but the steps seem easy to follow. Definitely worth checking out!
  • I am really excited to try HootCourse- a new and creative way to enhance online learning and communications using Twitter and Facebook to create a unique virtual classroom. Look for a course coming your way in the next few weeks!
  • Speaking of online courses, perfect timing for the new Discovery Tool from the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative.  The Collaborative Learning Workshop Guide offers a set of action-oriented, modifiable, modular activities for use in faculty development, staff retreats, or institutional planning. Each of the modules contains topical guidelines, content, resources, and best practices, and each can be easily customized to fit the needs of your institution, department, or unit. To access this resource or for more information, visit the home page.
  • Twitter Parade- just for fun, see all your twitter crew in this parade-style visualization. Here's my Twitter parade! It's sooo fun!
