I just arrived in beautiful ( and very hot) Denver, Colorado. I am eagerly anticipating an extraordinary week at the ISTE conference. Last year, I was a bit overwhelmed as a first time conference attendee, but this year I have a clearer idea of what I want to learn and the conversations I am looking forward to having.
Here's my week at a glance:
- I am starting bright and early tomorrow morning at Edubloggercon. Some of my best memories and connections began here. No advanced registration is required and it is not too late to sign up here. The website for EduBloggerCon is at http://www.edubloggercon.com where resources and happenings will be posted throughout the day.
- I am hoping to sneak over and take part in the happenings at OpenSourceCon. This is a first time experience at ISTE and is set up for those interested in Open Source in education. If this peaks your interest, check out more details here: http://www.opensourcecon.com.
- I know I will be spending lots of time in the Bloggers' Cafe – this is an amazing gathering place at the conference center where you can hang out with your favorite edubloggers or take a break on the comfy couches and chairs. If you are a first time attendee, this is where I felt most comfortable last year. It is a great way to meet new friends and connect with those you have been wanting to have conversations with. (The physical location is now listed on the ISTE website as "in the main concourse overlooking the Korbel Ballroom.)
- I have not decided what topic yet, but I plan on signing up for a session at ISTE "Unplugged" - this will be the second year of this incredible opportunity to present at ISTE even if you have never done so before, or you weren't accepted to speak, this is a must do as you all have great things to share. The sessions at unplugged will be live streamed, so our friends that were not able to be here in Denver will be able to listen in. If anyone wants to join me, I am open to doing a shared session!
- My presentation with Dr. Z, entitled "It's not about the Gadgets" is Monday from 2:30-3:30. Would love to see you there!
The rest of the week is open and flexible. I am looking forward to meeting new friends, hearing new perspectives, and making even deeper connections. I am overwhelmed and excited about the variety of sessions available for learning.
I have penciled in sessions about:
- Google Apps
- Creativity and 21st Century Skills
- Google Wave
- Project Based Learning
- Early Childhood and Technology
- Critical Thinking
- Global Collaboration
- Online/Blended Learning and PD
I will be in Denver the entire week, so if you want to connect, there are lots of ways:
@angelamaiers of Twitter I will also be using the hashtag #iste10
Call or text me at 515-554-2004 or come say hello in person at the Bloggers’ Café.
I hope to see you there or chat live on Twitter. I will be posting the great conversations and highlights from this amazing learning opportunity on the blog all week!
